Connection Through Natural Collection FAQ's
Everything You Might Be Wondering Answered Before Our Call
This guide contains short, no-fluff answers to the most common questions we get from smart, skeptical, and serious leads. Our goal isn’t to convince you, we just want you fully informed, so our time together is focused on your goals and strategy.
Will this work for my specific horse (breed, age, background)?
This is one of the most important questions we get, and the answer gets to the very heart of why our method is so different. Most training systems are built on techniques that only work for certain types of horses with specific conformation and temperaments. Our Connection Through Natural Collection method is built on universal principles of biomechanics and connection that apply to all horses, regardless of their breed, age, or past training.
Think of it like this: the laws of physics don’t change whether you’re building a bridge in California or a skyscraper in Dubai. The principles remain the same. Similarly, the principles of how a horse’s body is designed to move and how a relationship with clear communication is built are universal. We are not applying a set of rigid techniques; we are teaching you to see and understand these universal principles.
Because we are not forcing a shape or a movement, but rather unlocking the natural ability that is already inside your horse, it doesn’t matter if you have a hot-blooded Arabian, a calm Quarter Horse, a young green horse, or an older horse that has been through years of incorrect training. We are simply removing the blocks and creating the conditions for your horse to find its own natural balance and strength. The process works because it’s not about the horse’s specific attributes; it’s about the universal truth of how all horses are designed to move in partnership with a clear and connected rider.
Can you guarantee results like “Ride Force-Free High Collection in 12 Months or Less”? That sounds too good to be true.
We understand the skepticism. The equestrian world is full of bold claims and disappointing results. The reason we can make and stand by such a specific, outcome-driven guarantee is because our process is not based on hope, luck, or “feel” that takes years to develop. It’s based on a predictable, repeatable system.
Firstly, we have to be clear, this does not "just happen" by you joining our program…you MUST follow and implement our clear, understandable and proven process. This means you will have to put in effort to participate fully, follow the program as laid out, apply the steps in the order taught, ask for feedback and support, attend the available sessions, complete the required work, and implement feedback exactly as instructed.
The “magic” of the 12 Month result isn’t that we are teaching your horse something new and complex. The magic is that we are showing you how to get out of your horse’s way and create the conditions for it to do something it was born knowing how to do. A foal in a field will show beautiful moments of collection naturally. Our process simply shows you how to unlock that innate ability through clear communication and useful biomechanics.
Our guarantee is not that your horse will be a Grand Prix master in four weeks. The guarantee is that your horse will start positioning and posturing itself in a way that allows it to show you High Collected movement naturally. This is the critical breakthrough moment—the first time you feel your horse lift its thoracic sling, shift its weight, and move with you in a moment of true connection. Once you feel that, you have the key. You know it’s possible, and the rest of the journey is about making that moment more consistent. We can guarantee this first step because the process to get there is that reliable, proven and repeatable.
What if I’m just a beginner, or not a very confident rider?
This question often comes from a place of feeling “not good enough.” The great news is, this system is actually more fulfilling for beginners or riders who lack confidence than any other method out there. Why? Because traditional methods require you to have perfect timing, feel, and the confidence to apply strong aids. Our system is the opposite.
You do need to be able to confidently ride a walk, trot and canter on your horse AND be able to slow down and stop from any of these gaits WITHOUT pulling on two reins - if you can, then you definitely have enough skill and confidence to get going.
We start with you, the rider. We don’t throw you in the deep end and tell you to “just feel it.” We give you a clear, step-by-step process for developing your own body awareness, energy control, and clarity before you even ask your horse for anything complex. This builds your confidence from the ground up in a safe and supportive way.
Think of it like learning to dance. A bad teacher would just play the music and say, “Go dance!” A great teacher would first teach you how to stand, how to hold your frame, and how to do the basic steps on your own. Then, they would introduce a partner. We are the great teacher. We build your skills and confidence systematically, so by the time you are “dancing” with your horse, you feel prepared, clear, and ready. In many ways, beginners have an advantage because they don’t have to unlearn years of "not so helpful" habits built from forceful methods.
I don’t have a lot of time to train. How much time does this require?
This is a concern for almost every passionate horse owner who also has a busy life. The beauty of the Connection Through Natural Collection method is that it is about the awareness, empathy, congruence, connection (the quality) of your interaction, not the quantity of hours you spend in the saddle. This is about developing smarter, not longer.
The core exercises and principles can be practiced in as little as 10-15 minutes per session. We are not relying on exhausting the horse or drilling movements through repetition, a short, focused session where you have a clear, positive communication exchange is far more effective than an hour-long ride filled with tension and struggle.
Many of our most successful clients are busy professionals, parents, and business owners. They find that this system actually gives them more quality time with their horse because the frustration is gone. The time they do have is filled with progress and connection, rather than feeling like a chore. You will likely find that you achieve more in a few 15-minute sessions per week than you did in hours of riding the old way.
How is this different from natural horsemanship or other relationship-based methods?
This is a fantastic and insightful question. While we share the core value of relationship and partnership with many natural horsemanship methods, the key difference lies in the key principles and the focus of responsibility. Many relationship-based methods are excellent at building a connection on the ground, but they often lack a clear, systematic bridge to achieving high-level biomechanical goals like collection both on ground and under saddle.
Often, there is a gap where the groundwork is great, but when you get on, you’re back to using conventional aids and techniques to ask for things like collection. Connection Through Natural Collection was specifically designed to bridge that gap.
Our unique principles of - <horses already know how to do Collection> and <horses understand human body language> and <the human needs to get congruent between Mind, Body & Support energy> and <Collection develops naturally from standstill into short steps and short sequences> and <no force/containment/contact is required for Collection> and the focus of responsibility is on the rider to learn how to use their body - position, posture and energy in a way that directly influences the horse’s posture and biomechanics, creating collection as a natural result of the connection, not as a separate goal.
Think of it this way: Natural Horsemanship teaches you how to have a great monologue with your horse. We teach you how to have a great conversation, specifically about the topic of biomechanics and collected work and then develop that conversation into a Dialogue - It’s the missing piece that connects the heart of the relationship to the art of riding.
What does “active participation” mean for the guarantee?
This is our way of creating a partnership of accountability. Our guarantee is not a passive lottery ticket; it’s a promise based on a proven process that requires your engagement. “Active participation” is simple and straightforward.
It means you commit to watching the training modules, you practice the exercises as they are laid out, and you engage in the coaching process by submitting your videos for review. It means you show up to the process with an open mind and a willingness to try a new way, even if it feels different from what you’ve done before.
We are not asking for perfection. We are asking for participation. We have seen this process work for hundreds of riders of all skill levels, and the only variable is commitment to the process. We can guarantee the result if you can guarantee your participation. We are taking on all the financial risk because we are that confident that if you do your part, the system will do its part.
I've tried so many methods before and nothing has worked. Why will this be different?
This is the question that comes from a place of real pain and frustration, and we honour that. You have invested time, money, and emotional energy into your horse, and you have been let down. The reason those methods didn't work is not because you or your horse are broken. The reason is that the methods themselves were built on a flawed foundation.
Most traditional training methods are based on the idea that you need to make the horse do something through pressure, force, or repetition. The problem is, Natural Collection is not something you can force. It's a state of a horse's internal organisation facilitating balance, strength, and willingness that can only be offered by the horse. Trying to force it is like trying to force someone to love you—it doesn't work.
Connection Through Natural Collection is different because it is built on the opposite foundation. We are not trying to make your horse do anything. We are creating the conditions for your horse to want to do it. We are removing the blocks, building the strength, and opening the communication so that collection becomes the natural result of a Dialogue. This is why riders who have failed with every other method find success here. It's not a new trick; it's a new paradigm.
What if my horse has physical limitations or past injuries?
This is a critical and responsible question, and we always recommend working with your veterinarian to ensure your horse is cleared for any development program. That said, our method is actually one of the safest and most therapeutic approaches for horses, even with physical challenges.
Because we are not forcing a horse into a frame or using harsh aids, we are not putting undue stress on vulnerable areas. In fact, the exercises we teach are designed to build the correct muscles and strengthen the horse's natural posture, which can be incredibly beneficial for horses recovering from injury or managing chronic issues. Many of our clients have horses with past injuries, string-halt, suspensory ligament issues, arthritis, or other limitations and they find that our method helps their horse move more comfortably and confidently.
The key is that we are working with the horse's body, not against it. We are not asking for anything the horse is not physically ready to give. The process is gradual, gentle, and always based on the horse's feedback. If your horse has specific physical concerns, we can tailor the exercises and timeline to meet your horse where it is.
Do I need special equipment or a specific type of saddle/bit?
One of the most liberating aspects of this system is that it does not require you to buy a bunch of expensive gear. In fact, the entire philosophy is the opposite of the "buy this magic bit" mentality that plagues the horse world.
You can use whatever saddle and tack you currently have, as long as it fits your horse correctly and is not causing pain. We are not relying on equipment to create collection; we are relying on communication and biomechanics. That said, we do encourage riders to move toward the gentlest equipment possible— we don't even use bits anymore —because the less equipment you use, the clearer the dialogue.
The most important "equipment" you need is your own body awareness and willingness to learn. Everything else is secondary.
How does the coaching and support work?
We know that learning a new way of handling and riding horses can feel vulnerable, and we are committed to supporting you every step of the way. When you join the program, you get access to the relevant video training library, which breaks down every concept and exercise in clear, step-by-step detail.
Beyond the videos, you also get access to coaching and review calls where you can submit videos of your own riding for personalised feedback from Franzi & Tony and their team. This is where the real magic happens, because we can see (and show you) exactly what you're doing, celebrate your wins, and help you make the small adjustments that lead to big breakthroughs… plus by reviewing the videos, with you, we train you in SEEing what your horse is doing and how.
You also become part of a community of passionate, like-minded riders who are on the same journey. This community is a source of encouragement, accountability, and shared learning. You are never alone in this process.
What if I don't have access to an arena or fancy facilities?
You absolutely do not need a fancy arena or expensive facilities to succeed with this method. Some of our most successful clients work with their horses in small paddocks, round pens, or even just a flat area of pasture.
The foundational exercises can be done in a space as small as 20 feet by 20 feet. Because we are focusing on quality of movement and communication, not quantity of movement - you can achieve incredible results in a modest setup. In fact, working in a smaller space can sometimes be an advantage because it forces you to be more precise and intentional with your communication.
The only "facility" you truly need is a safe space where you and your horse can move together without distraction or danger.
Is this only for dressage riders, or can other disciplines benefit?
While collection is often associated with dressage, the principles of balance, strength, and partnership that we teach are beneficial for virtually every riding discipline. Whether you are a trail rider, a jumper, a western pleasure rider, or a dressage enthusiast, your horse will benefit from moving in a balanced, collected posture.
A collected horse is a safer, more comfortable, and more athletic horse, regardless of what you are asking it to do. Jumpers need collection to balance before a fence. Trail riders need collection to navigate difficult terrain. Western riders need collection for smooth, controlled movements. The principles are universal.
So no, this is not just for dressage riders. This is for anyone who wants a stronger, healthier and more connected horse.
What happens after I achieve my first collected movement? Is there ongoing support?
Achieving your first or next collected movement is the breakthrough moment, but it's just the beginning of the journey. Once you have felt that moment of true connection, the next step is to make it more consistent, refine the quality, and expand it into other movements and gaits.
Our program is designed to take you beyond that first win. You will have access to all the training materials and any future updates we add while you are in the program. You will continue to have access to the community and coaching support as you deepen your skills. This is not a "one and done" program; it's a complete system that grows with you.
Many of our clients stay connected to the community for years because they find it to be such a valuable source of ongoing learning and support.
What if I have a young, green horse that hasn't been started yet?
This is actually one of the best scenarios for our method. If you have a young horse that is just beginning its development, you have the opportunity to build the a unique foundation from day one, avoiding the common mistakes and bad habits that the conventional horse world create for horse lovers all over the world.
Our system includes groundwork exercises that are perfect for young horses, teaching them body awareness, strength, balance, and communication before you ever get on their back. When you do start riding, you will be doing on a body that has already developed the muscularity to be able to carry you in a healthy way with strength and support for the good of your horse.
Starting a young horse with Connection Through Collection is like giving them the gift of healthy, happy and strong movement. You are setting them up for success from the very beginning.
Just a cautionary note: we do not support you in the actual "starting under saddle" process as this is a different speciality and needs a competent and experienced mentor for starting horses.
I'm worried I won't understand the biomechanics. Is this too technical?
We completely understand this concern. The word "biomechanics" can sound intimidating, like you need a degree in veterinary science to understand it. The truth is, we break down the biomechanics into simple, visual, and easy-to-understand concepts that anyone can grasp.
You don't need to memorise the names of every muscle or bone. You just need to understand a few key principles about how a horse's body is naturally designed to move and how you can support that movement. We use analogies, demonstrations, and clear visuals to make it as simple as possible.
Think of it like learning to drive a car. You don't need to understand how the engine works to be a great driver. You just need to understand the basics of steering, braking, and accelerating. We give you the "driver's manual" for your horse's body, not the engineering textbook.
Can I do this if I only ride once or twice a week?
Absolutely. In fact, many of our clients ride only once or twice a week due to work, family or other commitments. The key to success is not the frequency of your rides, but the awareness, reviewing feedback and implementing your learnings in each session.
Because our method is about clear communication and healthy biomechanics, even a single 20-minute session per week can produce meaningful progress if it is focused and intentional. You are not relying on drilling or repetition to "muscle through" a result. You are creating moments of clarity, congruence and connection that you start to understand as the optimum way to communicate with your horse in an effective and two-way conversation that develops your horses natural Collection and deepens your mutual connection.
Consistency is helpful, but it's not the same as frequency. You can be consistent in your approach and your mindset even if you only ride once a week.
What if I'm older or have physical limitations myself?
You do need to be physically active and somewhat athletic, because your horse needs you to be able to move both on ground and in the saddle.
Riding in our SEATology method requires you to be able to use your muscle tonality to maintain your position and posture so you can clearly and congruently communicate with your horse.
So, depending on your limitations, this program may not suit you.
The most important ingredient any rider can have is an open, curious and growth Mindset - if you truly have this, then most limitations can be overcome.
How do I know if this is the right time for me to invest in this?
The right time is when you are tired of the struggle and ready for a completely different way. The right time is when you are willing to invest in yourself and your horse, not just in more gear or more clinics that teach the same old methods.
If you are reading this FAQ, you have already taken the first step. You are curious, you are seeking, and you are open to the possibility that there is a better way. That openness is the most important ingredient.
The question is not whether this is the right time. The question is, how much longer are you willing to stay stuck in the old way? Every day you wait is another day of frustration, another day of missed connection, and another day that your horse is not experiencing the joy of moving in balance and connection. The time is now.
What if my riding instructor or trainer doesn't support this method?
This is a common and understandable concern, especially if you have a long-standing relationship with a trainer. The reality is, not every trainer will understand or support a method that challenges the conventional "wisdom" they were taught.
You have a choice to make. You can continue doing what you've always done and hope for a different result, or you can take ownership of your own learning and try something new.
Ultimately, this is your journey with your horse. You are the one who has to live with the results. If your current trainer is not helping you achieve the partnership and progress you want, it may be time to seek out a different perspective. You owe it to yourself and your horse to explore all the options.
Is there a refund policy or money-back guarantee?
No, there is no money-back guarantee, however there is an additional 12 Month Extra Support option
This is not a done-for-you service.
We do not promise mastery, consistency, or specific movements simply because horses express collection individually.
What we do guarantee is this:
when our process is followed and implemented by you then within the 12 Month Program, your horse will begin to posture and position its body in a way that allows it to willingly offer at least 3 Naturally Collected movements.
This may appear as any High Collected movement expressed in your horse’s own way.
This happens not because we teach the horse something new, but because the process creates the conditions for an ability the horse already possesses.
If you fully participate in that 12 Month Program and you do not achieve 3 High Collected movements with your horse, we will continue supporting you until you do achieve 3 High Collected movements or up to another 12 months, whichever comes first.
We also guarantee the delivery of the process as described.
This guarantee exists to protect committed participants, not to reward non-participation.
Delivery of the process is defined by access to the curriculum, scheduled sessions being held, and feedback being provided.
The 12 Month extra support option applies only if all of the following conditions are met:
  • The participant actively participates during the 12 Month Program- completes all video course lessons
  • The participant follows the process as taught and in the order taught - from Level 1 through Level 3
  • Group Coaching sessions during the 12 Month Program are attended and proactively engaged with - video submitted and feedback recognised
  • Required work during the 12 Month Porgram is completed - actively practice the knowledge delivered in the Levels and Group Coaching
  • Feedback provided by the coaching team is implemented as instructed
  • The program has been delivered as described
